As a local sorority, KDE is able to choose philanthropy projects within the interests of our sisters.
Every summer KDE works extremely hard to get 100% participation in the Prouty that benefits the Norris Cotton Cancer Center. Last summer, KDE won the "Iron Butt Award" for having the most participation of all greek houses in the 100 mile bicycle race. While some of our sisters were sweating it out on the road, others volunteered at water stations and administration tents or participated in the other races. We also organized a carwash and bake sale to raise money for the cause. Spring 2014: We decided to pair up with Ledyard Charter School, a local charter school that provides individual learning opportunities for local students who have not been able to thrive in other high schools. KDE has been involved at LCS through mentoring, tutoring, and fundraising through art shows that featured KDE's art. Fall 2014: KDE raised money for, worked in and walked/ran for the Selamta Project 5K on Sunday, October 12th! Thank you so much for all of your generous donations and support! Winter 2015: The sisters of KDE volunteered at the Upper Valley Special Olympics Winter Games at the Dartmouth Skiway. KDEs participated by working at the food station, cheering, and escorting athletes. The sisterhood is also volunteering for the on-campus blood drive. |
